Who's Pappy?

GRAMP SHAW THE POET

Who's Pappy?

Pappy's Story

Pappy's Poems

He was called Major Hoople, Uncle Jack, John William, Dad and Gramp, depending on who you were and what the situation was. He was my grandfather, my Dad's Dad, a sharp-featured man with intelligent eyes under the glasses, a jolly face and well cropped grey hair. He was a man from the old sod of Southern Ireland, Wexford in County Cork.

John William Shaw was his official title and I was born Judith Anne Shaw. Now Shaw is the middle name of my first grandson. Whether fact or fiction, we always made the connection between my gramp and George Bernard Shaw. I've never been very interested in genealogy, but it would be worthwhile to investigate my family background to see if there is any truth to this connection.

Judy Thomson lives on the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay, near Leith Ontario.

just remember...

downwithup.com is a place for viewing, venting, wallowing, and whining. Got the oh-my-gawd-it's-a-blank-page-with-an-empty-title-tag-shake-down blues? Look now and forever hold the truth. No wait... speak now and maybe you'll get somewhere. Or is it, "run for cover!" Whatever happens, we're all in it together.

We say, downwithup!

Oscar Wilde once said, "life is too important to be taken seriously."

Great idea. Now, go enjoy yourselves!
