You know what? A lot of crap happens to me. Without a doubt, a lot of crap happens to a lot of people. But you know what else? Good stuff happens too. Just today in fact, I bought gas for the car at a really good price. It was at a full-service station to boot! Cheaper than at any self-serve station I've seen for a week! On my way home, the clouds parted (supposed to get nonstop rain today and tomorrow) and the warm sun shone through. People on the street started walking slower, smiling more. I rolled down my window. I tuned the car radio to a Jazz station. I smiled. When I arrived home, I listened to a message on my answering machine. An agency I do a lot of freelance work with had called. One of the clients we did a big job for wants to take us all out for a "thank you" dinner. I smiled again. As I hung up the phone, sudden movement just outside the window caught my eye. A Yellow Finch had perched itself on the edge of the window. It fluttered it's wings, got a better grip, and began to sing. My jaw dropped. The bird adjusted it's footing again, and twittered several more notes before sailing off into the nearby trees. You know what? I think it's going to be a good day after all.
